Preheat oven to 350F.
Peel and roughly chop potatoes. Boil and mash with butter, half and half, cream cheese, garlic salt, and nutmeg. Place into greased 9-inch by 13-inch dish. Bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes.
Top with almonds, and bake for 13 minutes more. Let stand for 15 minutes.
